Jon Bon Jovi
(Jamie McCarthy)

Jon Bon Jovi is a giant in the music world. Famous of course for his work his band Bon Jovi as well as his solo career, Jon Bon has done a lot in his career. But I believe this is new, he is sticking his head into politics. In an appearance at BB King Blues Club and Grill in New York City Bon Jovi said he wants to be the Secretary of Entertainment in Hillary Clinton’s cabinet. He was kidding of course but he was not kidding about the fact that he has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.

Apparently Jon Bon and the Clinton’s are pretty good friends. Going to horse races with the Clinton’s and celebrating Bill Clinton’s birthday together, you can see that the Clinton’s and Bon Jovi are pretty tight. This is the first time I’ve heard of Bon Jovi getting political. He has even campaigned for Hillary when he appeared at one of her rallies in June in New Jersey.

Politics mixing with entertainment and music can be a rough combination. You may alienate a group of your fans if you take a certain political stance. But If you can handle the flack you might get for standing up for what you believe in do what you feel is right. A guy like Jon Bon Jovi who is already pretty well established can get away with this I guess. Because if you’re a young up and coming artist it might hurt your marketability.

But I guess you should always stand up for what you believe in no matter what. Whether that means you campaign for your party’s candidate. Take a stance a certain government law or social injustice. Jon Bon Jovi is all in for Clinton and I for one would love to have him as Secretary of Entertainment no matter who is president.
